The Devil Is A Friend of Mine

For some reason, H decided to play some Garcia for the kids. They love it. To say I'm not a fan of Garcia or the Grateful Dead is a minor understatement. But when Camille was a baby the only two songs she would go to sleep to were this one and Casey Jones. And I had to sing them along with the cd.

Today while they listend, Camille climbed into my lap like a baby. Then she asked H: "What happens when the Devil comes in the house?"

So dear readers, what happens when the devil comes into the house?

he comes to steal our money! let's hide it in a safe place.

J.Garcia & D. Grisham are so awesome together, it's like having two grandpas singing to you... i think that's why our children like their stuff so much.

When he comes in, you sing him that song & he listens and then leaves. :-)

You offer him a cup of tea, of course.

You sing him

"Fare you well, my honey
Fare you well, my only true one
All the birds that were singing
Are flown, except you alone ..."

He ALWAYS sings the rest of the song with you.

And THEN you offer him a cup of tea, per Ernesto.

Oh, of course. But a cuppa is de rigueur...

I guess you say "hey, how was your day?" like you do every day.

the grateful dead drive me bananas.

but this is not the greatful dead!
it's jerry garcia with david grisham: they have a complete different vibe i think than the Dead ever did... more bluegrassy, rootsy, i can even hear hints of spanish guitar in this... well i guess not much different from the greatful dead but

oh yes I saw that, was responding to Ginger's comment that she's not a fan of Garcia or them.

I should have added, I'm not a fan of him either ;)

It's Grisman, not Grisham; if you like that stuff give *Old and In the Way* a try ... as for the Dead, my bro never liked 'em either til I tossed some acid down him & took him to a live gig. I don't know if I would like 'em either if all I knew were their recordings. But ... well, it took me 10 years, literally, to come down from the Cow Palace (SF) show, New Year's Eve, 1976 ... I've been chemically prejudiced!

Grisman, thanks jbr, and 1976!! that's the year i was born...

If you read my comment in a particular way, H, I guess that makes us twins ...

LOL to all the suggestions. I'll keep them all in mind the next time he decides to visit.

And mmm...John B-R and H as twins...now there's a thought.

My comment would have been.... don't let the devil in the house and then you don't have to wonder. Cuz devils can be awfully hard to get rid of.

I guess if they do come in the house, open all the windows and let a lot of light in, and burn white candles. And pray :).

never got into the dead... but Jerry Garcia is kinda cool. But that stuff sort of wasn't in my reality... I was more in the Bob Marley/Toots thing... especially in 1976.
